Why it Matters

Mental health is one of the most undertalked topics among young people in America, and one of the most urgent. Teen anxiety, depression, and burnout are at record highs. Yet the stigma around asking for help or even starting a conversation keeps too many people suffering alone.

In May 2026, YouthServeCLE closes the school year with a focus on movement, community connection, and active living, because some of the most powerful mental health interventions don't happen in a clinic. They happen on a kickball field, at a finish line, or around a shared meal. Students are partnering with Empower Sports for inclusive flag football in Solon and kickball in Mayfield, supporting runners at the Cleveland Marathon finish line, and closing the year with the Something Good Takeover on May 31, a full community celebration with food, music, yard games, and students from across Cleveland.

The school year wraps with a reminder that connection itself is a form of mental health care.

Our Partners

The Missing Link

The Missing Link is a Cleveland nonprofit dedicated to bridging gaps in services and opportunities for underserved youth and families across the city. They provide mentorship, programming, and direct support that connects people with the resources they need to thrive. YouthServeCLE has spotlighted The Missing Link as a partner organization whose hands-on programs allow students to make a tangible difference in young people's lives.

Empower Sports

Empower Sports creates inclusive athletic programs for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities, giving every person the opportunity to experience the joy, confidence, and community of sport. Their programs span adapted sports, recreational activities, and competitive leagues across the Cleveland area. YouthServeCLE students have served as buddy volunteers and event assistants, forming meaningful one-on-one connections with participants during events.

The Gathering Place

The Gathering Place supports, educates, and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer, at no cost to participants. Through a wide range of programs including counseling, yoga, nutrition guidance, and peer support groups, they help people navigate the emotional and physical challenges of a cancer diagnosis. YouthServeCLE students can support The Gathering Place's events, fundraisers, and community programs that create connection and hope for those affected by cancer.

Cleveland Marathon

The Cleveland Marathon is one of Cleveland's premier annual events, bringing tens of thousands of runners and spectators downtown for race day. Beyond the race itself, the Marathon is powered by a massive community of volunteers who keep water stations, finish lines, and athlete services running smoothly. YouthServeCLE volunteers support the finish line, distributing medals, snacks, and beverages to athletes as they complete one of the most iconic races in the Midwest.

Something Good Social Kitchen

Something Good Social Kitchen is a Cleveland community space built around food, music, and connection. As the host of YouthServeCLE's year-end Something Good Takeover, they bring students from across Greater Cleveland together to celebrate a full year of service with food, DJs, yard games, and community. Their mission is rooted in creating welcoming, joyful spaces where Clevelanders of all ages can connect.
